形态特征：一年生攀缘草本，茎密布黏毛，老后渐脱。叶片卵状心形或肾状卵形，不分裂或3-5裂，先端锐尖，边缘有不规则的齿；卷须纤细，初时有微柔毛，后渐脱落。单性花，雌雄同株，白色，单生；雄花花梗细，比叶柄稍，黄色，雌花花梗与叶柄等长或稍短，子房密生黏毛。匏果梨形、扁锤形、葫芦形等，初为绿色，后变白色至带黄色，成熟时木质化。种子白色，倒卵形或三角形。花期夏季，果期秋季。
