朝鲜语系（韩国语）专业建于1972年，于2000年独立成系。随着中韩关系发展朝鲜语系规模不断扩大，目前学院已成为国内几所培养韩语人才的重要院校之一。多年来为社会培养了一大批优秀人才，他们中的许多人已经成为外交、外贸、教育、旅游等诸多领域的业务骨干。
延边大学朝鲜韩国研究中心成立于1989年10月，前身是延边大学朝鲜—韩国学研究中心，是已故的延边大学前任副校长、著名的社会活动家郑判龙教授亲手建立起来的一所专门研究朝鲜韩国问题的科研机构。中心于2007年12月经教育部批准已成为教育部普通高校人文社会科学研究重点研究基地。
